Equine Body Work is beneficial to all horses and ponies from the family pony to the competition horse. It works very well as part of a maintenance and conditioning programme (preventing the build up of knots, trauma and adhesions), in addition to being rehabilitative. It also has the advantage of being non-invasive and non-manipulative .
Therapies offered include:
Equine Sports Massage
Professional therapeutic sports massage techniques applied to the equine include massage and range of motion stretches. These have many benefits, from an increased range of motion, faster recovery from competition, to improved skin and muscle tone. As most injuries are accumulative and don't happen overnight another benefit is to help head off soft tissue issues at a much earlier stage.
Myofascial Release
Dubbed as the 'missing link in traditional healthcare' myofascial release is a gentle but deep stretching into the connective tissue web which connects and covers all the bones, muscles, organs and nerves in the body. Myofascial release can make a real overall positive structural difference without manipulation and enhance the overall performance of your horse.
For Humans:
The riders posture effects the horse and the horse will often mirror the rider. A bodywork session can help to free restrictions and improve postural balance. It is also brings a greater sense of awareness and well-being.
