Fascial Restrictions

The ground substance of the fascial system is fluid in nature, and over time, due to physical trauma or repetitive strain the ground substance will lose its hydration and become solid.  This is how the fascial system becomes restricted.  So just like a spider web, where you can pull at one end of the web and see a reflection of that pull transmit to somewhere else in the spider web, the same thing happens with the fascial web.  Thus restrictions in one part of the body can appear as symptoms elsewhere in the body.  Over time as new restrictions build in addition to old restrictions, and they begin to pull within the body symptoms start to surface.

Simply put, by taking off the straight jacket of pressure that can be exerted by fascial restrictions, the body can then self-regulate and heal. Since the fascial system is the immediate environment of every cell of the body, restrictions in it can affect any system in the body. By opening up the fascial system and taking the pressure off the cells, the body can self-regulate and heal.

Where the body has been pulled out of alignment by tight connective tissue myofascial release can make real positive structural differences.  Myofascial release also incorperates cranial sacral techniques since they are part of the fascial system.
